Martha Moses (Certified Educational Planner) has been professionally active in education in Florida, California, Georgia and North Carolina since 1966. She has been a teacher, counselor, school director, college lecturer, and curriculum coordinator. Since 1987 she has worked as a private counselor, assisting families and students with their educational planning. Mrs. Moses is a native of Key West, Florida. She received her bachelor’s degree in humanities from Emory University in Atlanta and her master’s degree in English and education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also completed post-master’s degree work in guidance and counseling. She is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA),and many local community and civic organizations. She recently completed a term on the National Board and Executive Committee of the IECA as vice-president for conferences.

Martha & Shawn provide their clients with assistance in many educationally related areas that require professional expertise. These include college and prep school admission counseling, local school advice, evaluation and testing, and therapeutic and special needs placement.  Through ongoing visits to schools and colleges locally and throughout the country, and by frequently meeting with admissions representatives in their office, they can provide the most recent information about these institutions to their clients.  With a clear and objective understanding of what each school has to offer, they can identify those that will best meet the needs of your child. Following the ethical code of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), there is no solicitation or acceptance of fees from schools, colleges, or special needs programs. This ensures that all recommendations are based solely on the welfare of the client, and greatly improves the likelihood of a successful placement. With the services provided by their office and through contacts with other professionals, Martha & Shawn can meet most educational counseling needs at the elementary, secondary, college, or graduate level.
Shawn Farrell M.Ed. joined Martha Moses & Associates in May of 2018.  A graduate of the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in education, Shawn brings 22 years of therapeutic wilderness programming experience. For 10 years Shawn served as the Executive Director of a wilderness therapy program in Western North Carolina. As CEO he cultivated the mentorship and development of 140 staff team members, helping many to accomplish their dreams of graduate school, school development, and professional growth.  Through his varied roles as a high school English teacher, coach, tutor, mentor and guide he has developed the skills to meet students where they are and push them to achieve their best.  He has worked with both students and families, teaching parenting workshops and family communication skills.  In joining Martha Moses & Associates, Shawn looks forward to the continued work of guiding students and their families along their varied journeys.   Shawn has also served as head of the ethics committee for the Outdoor Behavioral Health Council, Committee Chair for Aspen Education’s Best Practices Committee, and a CARF accreditation committee member for Acadia Healthcare.
